You’ll learn how to install and configure its different versions (Gui, Core, Nano Server), perform common administration tasks, and set up secure resources in an Active Directory environment.

Teaching objectives
At the end of the training, the participant will be able to:
  • Install, configure, and apply settings to a server with Windows Server 2016
  • Perform admin tasks via the new interfaces and PowerShell

  • Maintaining and troubleshooting a server: Creating a backup and using recovery tools

Prerequisites
Good knowledge of managing networked Windows (10, 8, or 7) workstations.

Course schedule

Architecture and installation

  • New features (Windows Defender, Windows Container, interface, etc.).
  • CoreServer, NanoServer modes.
  • Deployment tools and methods (WDS, MDT 2013, etc.).
  • Hands-on work ¤Installing Windows Server 2016, roles, Nano Server 2016.

Administrative tools and configuration

  • ADAC manager, roles.
  • Windows PowerShell Web Access.
  • Hands-on work ¤Managing server groups. Remote installation of roles. Using PowerShell.

NanoServer

  • WIM, VHD deployment.
  • Adding packages and managing roles.
  • Network, firewall (Nano Server Recovery console).

Network management

  • DNS, DHCP and DHCP Failover, IPv4 and IPv6, IPAM.
